About the Project
What is the project?
Hormones regulate almost every part of our mind and body. They contribute to decisions we make, the ways in which our body responds to external stimuli and the emotions we feel. However, unfortunately, most of us are unaware of the ways in which our hormones affect us and which hormones regulate which parts of our body.
This project aims to help children understand the different hormones in the human body, and increase their understanding of ‘why the body works the way it does’!
Inspired by the movie Inside - Out, which did a fantastic job in explaining emotions, we aim to help children understand hormones!

Why is it important?
We often discuss hormonal imbalance commandeering over our body that causes acute mood swings and irritability. Well, because it is true!
Hormones act as chemical messengers in our body that travel through the bloodstream to tissues and organs. A tiny amount of hormone can have a huge impact on the body’s cells and systems. They are fundamental to all the systems and essential for reproduction. Hormones are released by the endocrine system, which governs physiological activities such as appetite, blood pressure, and sexual desire. It performs basic tasks that help you achieve a good night's sleep, regulate blood sugar or react quickly.
Hormonal imbalances rule our emotions. We experience unpleasant emotions such as rage, anxiety, and exhaustion when the levels change. It necessitates a thorough understanding of hormones, as they shape our bodies' sensations throughout the day. Hence, a better understanding of our body’s requirements can help us manage the variance and tackle them in a better way. Severe hormonal imbalance can lead to serious health conditions such as thyroid disorders, diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome. In this case, we should seek medical advice, maintain a healthy diet and exercise on a regular basis.
